Dedicated to the memory of Ann

This site is a tribute to Ann, who was born in Barrow-in-furness on April 30, 1944. Ann is much loved and will always be remembered.

Ann was small in stature but had the strength of a thousand men, both in body and mind. Ann carried her life challenges with grace and dignity, cracking the whip whenever necessary to ensure everything was just so.

If Ann were a character in a Jane Austin novel, she would be described as an accomplished woman. As a primary school teacher, Ann had many talents that she maintained throughout her life. she played the piano and guitar so wonderfully, encouraging her children and grandchildren to take up music. Ann was a dab hand with a needle, thread and sewing machine, making many outfits for the grandchildren's various school productions. I mustn't forget to mention her knitting skills. Ann knitted for all her grandchildren, even after her spinal injury that made knitting very difficult.

Ann ran a tight ship at home, always making sure she had a tidy, organised home and ensured all were well fed. Ann was a great cook, following recipes to make the most delicious meals. Even in her final days she kept an eye on things from her bed, checking in with her helpers to make sure John and Martin were eating properly and that John was keeping his office tidy.

Ann your strength, grace and dignity are an inspiration and you are so deeply missed and loved. Be happy up there in paradise with your loved ones who travelled there before you.
